01

About this notice

This notice explains how personal information may be collected and used when you visit this website, contact the Chambers or submit a legal enquiry. It should be read together with the Cookies Notice, Website Terms of Use and Legal Disclaimer.

02

Who we are

OLANIYAN & OLANIYAN & CO., SPEDOC CHAMBERS provides legal advice, advocacy and representation. For the purposes described in this notice, the Chambers is responsible for deciding how personal information supplied through this website is handled.

03

Information we collect

The information collected depends on how you use the website and communicate with the Chambers.

  • information you provide in an enquiry or other communication
  • contact details and communication preferences
  • technical and security information needed to operate the website
  • records of correspondence and actions taken in response to a request

04

Information submitted through the legal enquiry form

The enquiry form may collect your name, contact details, matter subject, a summary of the matter, the names of related or opposing parties, your preferred contact method and required acknowledgements.

Please provide only the information reasonably needed for an initial review. Do not upload or send unnecessarily sensitive documents or information at this stage. If further material is required, the Chambers will explain an appropriate way to provide it.

05

Information collected through website use

The website and its hosting or security infrastructure may process basic technical information such as request time, device or browser information, IP address and security events where this is necessary to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the service. The website does not currently load analytics, advertising pixels or marketing trackers.

06

How we use personal information

Personal information may be used to assess and respond to enquiries, communicate with you, administer the website, protect the Chambers and its systems, meet legal or professional obligations, maintain appropriate records and establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

The basis for using information will depend on the circumstances and may include steps requested before a potential engagement, performance of an engagement, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Chambers, or consent where consent is specifically requested.

07

Legal and professional confidentiality considerations

The Chambers handles information with appropriate regard to professional duties and confidentiality. However, submitting information through a public enquiry form does not itself establish a solicitor-client relationship. Avoid sending confidential or privileged material until the Chambers confirms that it can consider or accept the matter.

08

Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary cookies may be used for consent preferences, authentication and website security. Optional categories remain disabled by default and no optional tracking service is currently active. Further information is set out in the Cookies Notice and the Cookie Settings control in the footer.

09

When information may be shared

Information may be shared where reasonably necessary with authorised members of the Chambers, professional advisers, courts or public authorities, and service providers supporting secure hosting, communications or information technology. Information may also be disclosed where required by law, professional obligation or the proper conduct of a matter.

Service providers should receive only the information needed for their role and be subject to appropriate confidentiality and security requirements.

10

Data security

Reasonable organisational and technical measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No method of internet transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11

Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, including enquiry assessment, professional record-keeping, security, legal compliance and the establishment or defence of claims. Retention periods differ according to the nature and status of the information.

12

International and service-provider processing

Some technology or communications providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where that occurs, the Chambers will seek to use providers and safeguards appropriate to the information and the applicable requirements. This notice does not assert that any particular international transfer occurs where it has not been verified.

13

Your rights

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, you may be able to request access to or correction of personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, request deletion where appropriate, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or raise a concern about how information is handled.

These rights may be subject to legal and professional limitations, including duties of confidentiality, privilege, record retention and the rights of other people. The Chambers may need to verify your identity before responding.

14

Children

This website is not directed to children. A parent, guardian or appropriate adult should contact the Chambers where legal assistance is sought for a child. Children should not submit personal information through the website without appropriate adult involvement.

15

Third-party links

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience or reference. The Chambers does not control their privacy practices, and you should review the notices provided by those third parties.
